Despite prohibitions on trick-or-treating due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Los Cerritos Elementary and Ponderosa Elementary Schools successfully found ways to bring the school community together by organizing COVID-19 conscious Halloween celebrations for their families.
At Los Cerritos, the school’s PTA worked with teachers and staff to help make the drive-through event happen.
“We wanted to do something special for the Los Cerritos community, because the kids are stuck at home so much,” said Principal McLaughlin.”
At Ponderosa, teachers dressed up as characters with names that started with the letter “P”.
“We love our students. We love our parents,” Ponderosa Elementary Principal Julie Erskine echoed. “It’s nice to be together.”
